Instead, you should simply clean the rugs when they are visibly dirty or have an odor. Keep reading to find out how to refresh those well-worn area rugs so they look as good as they did when you unrolled them.

1.

Rug shampoo (or mild dish soap)

Bucket
Soft-bristle sponge or brush
Water
Optional:
Rubber gloves
Garden hose
Wet-dry vacuum

2. Remove Dirt and Debris
Thoroughly vacuum about the rug on either side. You want to make sure every last bit of debris is gone.

3. Mix Your Cleaner
When it comes to the actual cleaning solution, you can use a rug shampoo. Whatever shampoo you choose, follow its specific directions (found on the jar ) for mixing.

As an alternative, you may even use mild dish soap mixed in a bucket with warm water. Don’t use hot water as it could shrink the rug or cause fading.

4. Do a Colour Test
Before you start scrubbing, be sure that the cleaner doesn’t cause the colors to run. Test the solution to the corner of the rug to make sure it is colorfast. If the color doesn’t bleed, it’s safe to proceed to another step.

5. Wash the Rug
With a sponge or soft-bristle brush, work the cleaning solution into a lather on the rug. Allow the cleaner sit on the rug to get a five minutes before you begin rinsing. Anything less than this and you’ll shortchange the cleaning procedure. Give it those five minutes to install and start lifting away dirt.

6. Rinse the Rug
Make sure all the cleaning solution is totally removed from the area rug along with the runoff water is crystal clear.

7. Remove Excess Water
Now, you are going to want to do away with as much surplus water in the rug as possible so it’ll dry quicker.

8. Permit the Rug Dry
Lay the rug level and permit the cover of the rug to dry thoroughly. After that, flip it over to let the bottom side dry. Fans may help speed up the process. Make sure the rug is fully dry before you return it to the area.

9.
During the cleaning process, fibers and threads may get compacted and squished. Revive them by running a vacuum within the now-dry rug, or brush with a soft-bristled brush. Now you’re finished, and may enjoy your newly cleaned carpet. You understand how to clean an area rug yourself, and you’re able to finish the job whenever you like.

Check related blogs about Rug Cleaning:
Exactly-How-A-Rug-Can-Make-Your-Room-Perfect in Villa Park
How-Can-I-Clean-My-Rug-At-Home in Villa Park

Can your area rugs use a clean?
